At Wag-Wagatha Christie, I don’t rush dogs, force cooperation, or aim to “just get it done”.
If all you’re looking for is the quickest appointment or the cheapest price, I may not be the right groomer for you, and that’s okay.
But if you want to drop off a calm dog and collect a calm dog, if you’re happy to break grooming down into manageable, dog-led stages, and if your priority is ensuring your dog is not traumatised by the grooming process, then you’re very much in the right place.
I work in a behaviour-led, holistic way, listening to what each dog can cope with and building confidence over time. Progress is measured in trust, emotional regulation and comfort, not speed.

We start with a relaxed, no-pressure chat about your dog, their history, and what you’re hoping for, and I’ll explain honestly how I can help.
Before any grooming takes place, your dog comes in simply to explore, sniff, and form a positive association with me, the sensory garden and the Pawlour in Nantwich.
This might be a re-introduction to grooming programme, a split groom, a full groom, or a timed session, always chosen to suit your dog’s needs, not a one-size-fits-all approach.
If you’re looking for a calmer, kinder way forward with grooming, I’d love to help you and your dog start that journey.

Every dog has a story to tell; you just need to know how to listen. At Wag-Wagatha Christie, we pride ourselves on being a little bit like doggy detectives: observing, interpreting, and piecing together the subtle clues each dog gives us. From body language to behaviour, we follow the trail to uncover what they need to feel safe, comfortable, and understood.
We specialise in working with dogs who need that extra understanding, whether they’re nervous, elderly, living with specific medical needs, or reactive. By combining detective-like curiosity with holistic, fear-free techniques, we turn grooming into a positive, stress-free experience tailored to each individual dog.

Our certified, multi-award-winning groomer is trained by experts from the Holistic Grooming Academy, ensuring every session is guided by compassion, patience, and the highest standards of care.
If your dog has grooming “mysteries” to solve, we’re here to help: with kindness, creativity, and a touch of Wag-Wagatha flair.

“Vanessa is a very caring and accomplished groomer. My dog Freya is very nervous and, being a rescue, was not socialised as a puppy. However, Vanessa took the time to get to know Freya and I and ensure Freya felt comfortable with the grooming process. We usually need to tranquilise Freya before grooming, but Freya is actually excited to visit Vanessa. I would highly recommend Vanessa.”

Customers consistently praise Vanessa's holistic and calming grooming approach, transforming their nervous pets into relaxed and happy clients. The emphasis on building trust through personalized care and a gentle introduction process stands out as a key strength of the service.

Hi, I’m Vanessa, a Level 5 Behaviour Grooming Specialist and the founder of Wag-Wagatha Christie. My work is shaped by lived experience, empathy, and a belief that grooming should never be something a dog simply endures.
After training in dog grooming, I saw firsthand how many dogs were overwhelmed or misunderstood during the process, and I knew the industry needed a more welfare-focused approach. Now, I combine behaviour knowledge with gentle, consent-based handling to support anxious, sensitive, and rescue dogs at their own pace right here in Nantwich.

Lagertha proudly holds the title of Chief Treat Tester at Wag-Wagatha Christie. Her specialist skills include checking (and double-checking) the quality of all biscuits, sniff-based taste inspections, and hoovering up any treats left behind in the sensory garden or salon. No crumb escapes her forensic nose.
She also manages front-of-house supervision, making sure every human and dog is greeted with a well-timed woof hello and sent on their way with a polite woof goodbye. Her work ethic is impeccable, her snack expectations are high, and she is currently accepting belly rubs as payment.
