At Wag-Wagatha Christie, we see every grooming session as a little investigation. Each dog arrives with their own set of signals, body language, and quirks, and it’s our job to play detective, piecing together the clues to understand how they’re feeling and what they need.
Our priority is always your dog’s comfort and well-being. Trained in advanced canine behaviour and holistic grooming techniques through the Holistic Grooming Academy, we use patience, observation, and gentle handling to create a safe, low-stress environment.

Vanessa is a highly qualified and passionate groomer, dedicated to combining expert care with a holistic approach to canine wellbeing. She holds an iPET Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming & Salon Management, has achieved distinction in her Level 5 Behaviour Grooming Specialist Diploma, and is certified with a DAATA Level 1 in Dermatological Grooming.
Her advanced training ensures every dog receives not only beautiful grooming but also compassionate handling tailored to their individual needs. Vanessa’s expertise bridges grooming, behaviour, and skin health—making her a trusted professional for both pets and their owners in and around Nantwich.

Detective
Wag-Wagatha Christie was founded by Vanessa Barber, a behaviour-led groomer who believes the truth is always found by listening closely. During her training, Vanessa saw too many dogs struggling, labelled as “difficult” when they were simply overwhelmed and unheard. She knew there had to be a kinder, more thoughtful way to groom.
Shaped by her own experience of trauma and the power of finally being listened to, Vanessa brings deep empathy to her work with dogs, especially those who find grooming hard. Wag-Wagatha Christie was created as a calm, safe space where grooming is reimagined through observation, positive reinforcement and animal-centred care.
The name comes from feeling like a canine detective: reading body language, piecing together clues and finding gentle solutions to grooming mysteries. Today, Wag-Wagatha Christie is a multi-award-winning studio specialising in nervous, senior, reactive and sensitive dogs, with a simple mission: put wellbeing first, listen to dogs, and build trust one paw at a time. 🐾
